Second Chances

There's a favorite episode of mine from the TV show called Dr. Who. The episode is called Vincent and the Doctor, and the underlying theme of mental health issues was raised in that show. Vincent van Gogh, a world-famous artist, struggled with mental health issues, which eventually took his life. Anyways, long story short, the Doctor and his companion (Amy Pond) travels in time and connects with van Gogh. Though the Doctor knows the outcome, Amy Pond tries her best to try and change history so that van Gogh will continue to live without committing suicide. Here's that scene in the episode where the Doctor and Amy takes Vincent to the van Gogh exhibit at the famous French museum, the Musee d'Orsay. There Vincent is showered with praise and overwhelmed at all the positive vibes he absorbs. Check-out this  video which includes the famous "speech" by the museum's art curator, Doctor Black, who spoke words of adoration about van Gogh. For Vincent, who was misunderstood and unappreciated in his own time, that museum experience was definitely an uplifting gift from the Doctor and Amy.

The background music was performed by the group Athlete and song titled "Chances" ... a nice song for that scene. Going forward ... did you see the Dr. Who 50th anniversary special? I did, and I was pleasantly surprised. Really loved the interaction between the three Doctors, and the theme of redemption in that TV movie. All those years the Doctor harbored and struggled with the guilt of wiping out two races, his own people and the race called the Daleks, for the good and peace of the entire universe. However, in the 50th anniversary episode, something very special happens. Anyways, I don't want to spill out any spoilers for those who haven't watched it yet.

We all would love second chances. Second chances at righting a wrong, second chances at romance or a relationship, and so on. Sometimes we're lucky, and we get the opportunity to redeem ourselves. But in reality, we can't go back in time and fix things, though I bet we all had a burning desire at one point in our lives that if we could, we'd go back in time and do the "right" thing.

Life goes on, and we should not dwell in the past. You don't want additional stressors in your life, right? Live in the moment, be around people and things that will edify you, and picture your ideal future by setting realistic goals.
